Soil Identification
To identify the type of soil in your garden, simply rub a small amount of moist soil between your fingers; the following table shows how different varieties of soil feel and respond to this treatment.
| Soil | Feels | Properties |

| Clay | Sticky, solid and smooth | May be rolled into a ball that changes shape when pressed and develops a shiny streak when smoothed. |
| Sandy | Gritty and granular | Will not stick together or make a ball. |
