Controlling Growth of Climbers

If left untended, climbing plants can quickly grow and overwhelm a structure; some may even cause damage to brickwork, mortar, roof tiles and guttering. It is therefore important to keep a close eye on these plants and prune them regularly; once their stems and aerial roots have taken hold, they may be very difficult to remove.

Pruning should be carried out once a year to maintain a well-balanced shape without any invasive growth. Prune evergreens in the spring and deciduous climbers during the dormant season.
