Chainsaws

A chainsaw is a portable motorised saw, suitable for cutting large branches and logs or for felling trees. They cut using teeth that are linked together on a chain propelled around a grooved guide at speeds up to 45 miles an hour.

Chainsaws are available in electric and petrol-driven versions; petrol models are much more powerful and suitable for larger gardens, whereas electric chainsaws are lighter, easier to handle and require less maintenance.

Great care must be taken when using chainsaws; you should always wear protective clothing such as ear protectors, goggles and thick gardening gloves. There are also additional safety concerns when working with electrical chainsaws.

Working with chainsaws can be extremely dangerous; always take appropriate safety precautions and if possible, undergo training before using for the first time.
