Caring For a Newly Planted Tree
- You may need to provide some trees with extra protection from wind and frost. For example, evergreens in an exposed site should initially be protected from drying winds with windbreaks.
- Feed and mulch regularly.
- Keep the area surrounding the tree clear of weeds and grass.
- Provide newly planted trees with plenty of water, especially during dry spells. Make sure you do this for the first 2-3 years after planting or the tree may not become properly established and may even die.
